DIY with AI

You have recorded something. This is how it becomes a piece people read, with AI helping and never writing.

You can do all of this yourself. It takes a bit of time and a bit of know how. That is fine. It is also exactly the work we do on the paid plans.

The one rule

AI can tidy what you said. It never adds a sentence you did not say. If a line in the finished piece is not something you actually said, take it out.

1. Get the words out

Turn your recording into a transcript. You can do this yourself, but it takes a little research to find a tool or service that runs one of the Whisper speech to text models.

2. Tidy it, do not rewrite it

Paste your transcript into an AI assistant such as ChatGPT, Claude or Gemini with this prompt. The rules are in the prompt, so they go wherever you use it.

Here is a transcript of me talking about my work. Tidy it into a short written piece.

Rules:
- Use only what I said. Do not add a sentence, fact or opinion I did not say.
- Remove filler words, false starts and repeats.
- Fix grammar lightly. Keep my words and the way I say things.
- Keep my order unless a sentence makes no sense where it is.
- If something is unclear, leave it in and flag it. Do not guess.

3. Find the headline in what you said

Pick three lines from the tidied piece that would work as a headline. Quote them exactly as I said them. Do not write new ones.

Choose one. If none of them sound like you, the headline is still in there somewhere.

4. Cut a few short pieces

From the tidied piece, pull out three short quotes of one or two sentences that make sense on their own. Quote me exactly.

Post them wherever you already are, each one pointing back to the full piece.

5. Write the email

Turn the tidied piece into a short email to my customers. Use my words. Start with the most useful thing I said, keep it under 150 words and end by pointing to the full piece. Do not add anything I did not say.

Optional: polish the video in Final Cut Pro

The written piece is the main thing. If you also want the video to look finished, this is the short version. Any video editor works the same way.

1. Download your recording from your studio page and drop it into a new project.
2. Add a marker where each question starts. Your studio page shows the time each answer begins, so you can jump straight between them.
3. Put each question on screen as a title just before its answer, in the words it was asked.
4. Trim the start and the end. Leave the rest alone. The small pauses are you thinking and they sound like a real person.
5. Make it look like you. Add captions, then your branding, simple transitions, a call to action at the end and a soundtrack if it suits. Final Cut Pro can turn what you said into captions for you, which matters because plenty of people watch with the sound off. Set all of this up once and save it as a template, so every video after that comes out authentically on your brand.
